Our rules for researching restaurant menus, prices, calories, deals and other time-sensitive details.

Source priority

We prefer official restaurant sources whenever they are available: brand menu and ordering pages, official nutrition and allergen information, restaurant location pages, promotional pages and company newsroom announcements. When an official source does not provide a needed detail, we may use a current secondary source, but we do not treat an unsupported third-party claim as an official fact.

How we handle prices

Restaurant pricing often changes by location, franchise operator, ordering channel, tax, customization and delivery method. Our menu pages therefore use one concise variation note near the first price table.

If a brand publishes location-specific online prices, we record the price context used for the check. When we compare more than one official restaurant menu, we may show an observed range. We do not describe a price as a national average unless we have actually performed and documented that calculation.

Calories, nutrition and allergens

Calories are included only when we can verify them from the restaurant’s current nutrition information or another reliable source. Customization can change nutrition totals. For allergies and medical dietary decisions, readers should always check the restaurant’s current official information for the exact item.

Deals and limited-time items

Promotions are especially time-sensitive. We identify participation or app requirements when the source provides them, and we avoid carrying an old deal forward merely because it appeared on an earlier version of a menu.

Dates and update records

Every finished menu guide displays the actual date its information was checked. Internally, we keep a source record so future updates can be compared against the prior check. We do not future-date research or claim a later check that has not happened yet.

Originality and corrections

Our writing and page structure are produced for Food Menu USA. Competitor sites may be studied for broad topic or search research, but their wording, imagery, tables and unsupported methodology claims are not copied. When we find a factual error, our goal is to correct the page and update its research record rather than hide the change.
